Richmond Times-Dispatch Features Naviance PDF Print E-mail
December 8, 2008

"Any parent who has ever helped a child try to work through the college application process would love what St. Gertrude High School is offering. In a word, 'ease'." So begins "A Helpful Hand in Choosing a College," an article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. During this busy time of year, St. Gertrude students and parents simplify the college search and selection process by relying on real data from their school's college counselors. Students and parents sign into Family Connection, part of WorkspaceK12 from Naviance, and have instant access to 5 years of St. Gertrude's college admissions data. These data also make life easier for counselors -- making it easy to get in minutes information that used to take weeks to produce. Says Gwen Christodoulou, the school's guidance diretor: "It's a quick tool, compared to the old way we did things. If someone on the board asks, 'How many of our graduates have gone to the University of Virginia in the last 10 years?' we can get that number." Read the full article at timesdispatch.com.

ASCA and Naviance Honor the Best of the Best PDF Print E-mail
November 17, 2008

The School Counselor of the Year program, presented by Naviance and the American School Counselor Association, honors the best of the best -- school counselors who are running a top-notch, comprehensive school counseling program at either the elementary, middle or high school level. This newly enhanced program brings up to 10 finalists and their nominators to Washington, DC in late January, where they participate in a congressional briefing, tour Washington, DC, and are honored at the School Counselor of the Year Gala. From these 10 finalists, one school counselor of the year is selected. Naviance is proud to support this program honoring excellence in school counseling.

Colorado State Extends Naviance Relationship PDF Print E-mail
October 30, 2008

"The day to day responsibilities of counselors are absolutely incredible and this is particularly true at high schools with limited resources," says Mary Ontiveros, Associate Vice President of Enrollment and Access for Colorado State University. Naviance has worked with and supported the counselors from these schools to help them maximize their use of this valuable tool, WorkspaceK12. The Alliance School Program is a partnership for education that unites students, faculty, and the community in a common goal. Through this partnership, CSU and the Alliance schools using Naviance, plan to positively impact the culture in the local community. Uniting the community to envision education beyond high school and send a greater number of students to college is one of the major goals of the Alliance School Program. "By providing Naviance tools to high schools in the Alliance Program," says Mary, "we are confident that the counselors’ ability to work more effectively with individual students will be immediately realized. Through Naviance, counselors learn about their students’ interests and goals and students learn more precisely about the intricacies of the college admissions process. We are proud to be able to assist caring professionals in their work with students." Schools across Colorado currently in the CSU Alliance Program are: Adams City High School in Commerce City; Centauri High School in La Jara; Central High School in Pueblo; Fort Lupton High School in Fort Lupton; Hinkley High School in Aurora; John Mall Junior-Senior High School in Walsenburg; Montezuma-Cortez High School in Cortez; Rocky Ford High School in Rocky Ford; Sierra High School in Colorado Springs; Trinidad High School in Trinidad.
