Maryville University in St. Louis, MO has provided a grant to provide College Planner, part of the Naviance Succeed student success platform, to ten St. Louis area public schools this year. This unique arrangement brings together an existing Hobsons client, Maryville University, with Hobsons’ K-12 education division, Naviance. Through the use of College Planner, counselors at these high schools will be able to manage the entire post-secondary planning process, while students and parents have the resources needed to make better decisions about college and career options. “We at Maryville University are extremely excited about this opportunity to help out our local high schools in a major way. Through this partnership we hope to help streamline the work of high school counselors, and ultimately give them more time to interact with students,” said Jeff Miller, vice president of enrollment, Maryville University. All counselors will be trained on College Planner during workshops held on Maryville’s campus—in the first set of training this week, more than 24 counselors from the Hazelwood School District in St. Louis are on Maryville’s campus, learning how to manage the post-secondary advising process; communicate with parents, students, and colleagues; and analyze data about student achievement and outcomes. Counselors from all ten high schools will also learn how to use College Planner to access critical information about student interests, plans, and accomplishments as well as powerful tools designed to support them in daily work. “As a global leader in education, we are proud to work with select higher education institutions to bring the Naviance Succeed platform to more local schools. It’s a situation where everyone wins: schools benefit by improving student achievement through Naviance Succeed, while Maryville continues to develop strong relationships with local counselors. As a company, we’re excited to see the impact Maryville’s dedication to their community has on these St. Louis area public schools,” said Stephen Smith, CEO, Naviance. "Naviance eDocs is great! Getting started was easy, and notices from colleges about missing transcripts, recommendation letters, and school forms dropped 90% in just one year!"
