Last week's second annual Naviance Summer Institute brought nearly 350 Naviance Network members to Boston. Over three days, participants celebrated a shared commitment to student success with outstanding workshops, hands-on professional development, one-on-one help sessions, and an array of informal events designed to help participants exchange ideas and make new friends. This year's Summer Institute featured more than 35 workshops, led by Naviance staff and other leading voices in K-12 and higher education, covering topics including action research, freshman transitions, on-line assessments, electronic recommendations and transcripts, and much more. The Institute got underway with a keynote address by leading educator and best-selling author, Ted Fiske, and then offered participants the ability to tailor their experience to their individual needs. Saturday concluded with an open forum for members to discuss the product roadmap for Naviance Succeed, the industry's leading student success system for K-12 schools, and a bus tour of local colleges for interested counselors. "The first Summer Institute in Phoenix in 2008 was an incredible experience, but it pales in comparison to this year's event in Boston," according to Stephen Smith, Naviance CEO. "My colleagues and I were truly inspired to be among many of the world's leading educators and to see the effect their work has on hundreds of thousands of students every day." This year's participants came from across the U.S. and from as far away as New Zealand, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates. |
"Naviance eDocs is great! Getting started was easy, and notices from colleges about missing transcripts, recommendation letters, and school forms dropped 90% in just one year!"
